SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Before using your phone, please read the following important information to eliminate or reduce any possibility of causing damage and personal injury. Do not use wireless phones while driving. Switch off wireless devices in aircraft. The signal may cause interference. Using them on aircraft is illegal. Do not use mobile phones where blasting is in progress. Follow any regulations and rules strictly. Do not use mobile phones at Petrol stations. Don’t use near fuel or chemicals. Do not dispose your battery or mobile in fire. Follow any regulations or rules in hospital and health care facilities. Switch phone off near medical equipment. All wireless devices may get interference that could affect performance. The repair or installation of the device should be done at Authorized service centers Use only approved accessories and batteries. Use only in normal position. Do not expose your phone to extremely high temperatures above +60C（+140F）. Do not use anything static to clean your phone. Ensure the phone is turned on and in service. Enter the emergency number, then press call key. Give your location. Do not end the call until told to do so. Improper use will invalidate the warranty! These safety instructions also apply to original accessories.

Please follow the precautions below to use the battery:

Please read carefully the instructions and labels on the surface of the battery before using it.

Charge your battery in a cool and well-ventilated room. Charging at overheat ambient temperature may make the battery hot and cause fume, burn, deform or even explode.

•The battery features special protection circuits and devices. Do not disassemble battery, or short-circuit or electrolyte leakage may occur. If electrolyte splashes into your eyes, you may have the risk of getting blind. In this case, rinse your eyes with clean water (never rub the eyes) and see a doctor immediately.

•Squeezing of battery, mechanical vibration or shaking of battery or use of short-circuited battery is strictly prohibited, because such behavior will damage the battery or components connected with it. Short circuit may result from direct connection of the positive pole and the negative pole of the battery by metal objects, such as a coin, pen, or paper clip, so keep the battery away from metal objects. Keep metal contacts and the battery clean. Never use damaged or exhausted batteries.

Replace the battery when it fails to meet the performance requirements. A battery can be recharged for hundreds of times until replacement is necessary. As consumer goods, a battery can be charged and discharged for hundreds of times, but its capacity will decrease gradually. If you notice a significant decrease in operation time (talk time and standby time), it is probably time to buy a new battery.

Never expose your battery to direct sunlight or heavy smog or dust. Never use your battery in a high humidity environment, such as in a bathroom. The device is not waterproof, so keep your phone away from rain or damp.

Do not place the battery at places where temperature is too high or too low. Temperature above 55℃ or below -10℃ will affect battery performance.

Never dispose of batteries in fire to avoid explosion.

Do not throw phone battery into water, otherwise internal short circuit may occur, which will make the battery hot and cause fume, deform, damage or even explode.

Dispose of batteries (e.g. recycling) in line with regulations. Do not dispose of batteries as household garbage to avoid explosion or pollution.

•The battery can only use a dedicated charger, and time for continuous charging is not allowed to exceed 12 hours.

Keep your battery at a safe place, out of reach of children to avoid any danger.

Please read the instructions and the labels on the surface of the charger carefully before using it.

Do not try to disassemble or modify the charger. Never use the charger when power cord is damaged, otherwise, electric shock, fire may cause damage .

Never touch the charger with wet hand. If your charger comes into contact with water or other liquids, switch off the power immediately. •Do not short-circuit your charger. Mechanical vibration or shaking of your charger is prohibited. Do not expose the battery to strong sunlight. It is prohibited to use your phone under high humidity environments, such as in the bathroom. The device is not waterproof, so keep your phone away from rain or damp.

Do not use your charger in the vicinity of electronic devices such as TV or radio.

Hold firm the charger to unplug. Never pull the wire, otherwise the wire might be damaged.

Keep your charger in a safe place out of the reach of children to avoid any danger.

Please follow the precautions below to use the headset (you may need to buy a headset separately):

Please keep appropriate volume when using the headset to avoid damage to hearing.

Do not pull the headset wire forcefully to avoid any crack.

Long term use of headset in places with high temperature or high humidity can easily lead to headset damage or shorter service life. Do not use headset while driving, riding a bike or walking on the road in case of any traffic accident.

Keep the headset in a safe place out of the reach of children to avoid any danger.

Chapter 1 Installation and Charging

1.1 Install the battery 1. Align the metal contact of the battery with the metal contact of the phone cabinet.

2. Press the battery towards the mobile phone and press down until it is buckled.

Refer to the following figure:

1.2 Remove the battery Make sure your mobile phone is powered off. 1. Press the back of the phone and slide it downwards to remove the back cover

2. Press the battery buckle and gently lift the battery and remove it. See the figure below: Pls put model picture here 1.3 Charge the battery Hold the connector of the charger and plug the charger into the charging slot of the mobile phone as follows:

Note: Please handle carefully. Do not pull out the charging interface by force. This may damage your mobile phone or charger.

• Before using the battery supplied with your mobile phone, make sure it is completely charged.

• While charging, do not remove the battery or USIM/SIM card. • Once the battery is used up, the mobile phone will shutdown automatically.

1.4 Install the USIM/SIM card • When the USIM/SIM card is not used, carefully put it in a secure place.

• The USIM/SIM card is easy to be damaged because of nicking or bending, so it should be used carefully.

When you perform following operations, ensure the mobile phone is powered off and separated with charger first. Remove the battery and put the USIM/SIM card in the holder. While inserting the USIM/SIM

card, ensure the metal side faces downward and aim the cut-corner of USIM/SIM card at that of the USIM/SIM card slot.

Remove the battery and take out the USIM/SIM card from the holder.

Note: USIM/SIM card is a computer chip containing protocol details, security information and personal phonebook, etc. 1.6 How to install and remove the memory card

You can store videos, photos, images, MP3, e-books, audio clips to a memory card. The memory card is installed as follows:

1. Insert the memory card into the memory card slot in the direction of the arrow and keep the metal side of the memory card in proper contact with spring sheet of the card slot.

1.7 How to power on/off 13

When the phone is off, make sure the battery is properly installed. Hold the [End key] until the boot screen appears to power on the phone. Some USIM/SIM card may have PIN protection. If there is prompt for inputting PIN, input your PIN and then press [OK key].

After power on, if the USIM/SIM card inserted is valid, your mobile phone will automatically search available network. If not, it will prompt “No valid SIM card” or “Make emergent call”.

To power off the phone, hold the [End key] until the shutdown screen appears.

1.8 Security password You can use access password to prevent unauthorized use of your USIM/SIM card.

1.8.1 PIN code

PIN code is used to prevent illegal use of user’s USIM/SIM card. If your phone has enabled PIN code protection, it will prompt you for entering PIN code. If wrong PIN code is entered for three times, USIM/SIM card will be automatically locked. Now you will have to enter PUK code to unlock it. PIN code is related to USIM/SIM card instead of the phone, and can be obtained from your network operator.

1.8.2 PUK code

PUK code, referring to personal unlock code, is used to unlock USIM/SIM card that is locked because of wrong input of PIN code. If wrong input of PUK code amounts to ten times, the USIM/SIM card becomes invalid. The PUK code is provided by your network service provider.

Chapter 2 Phone Layout and Key

The five-way navigation key is used to quickly use 5 pre-set features

as quick shortcuts and select menu items in menu operation. Use navigation key properly as follows:

1. Press [left navigation key] to enter Write Message in standby state. 2. Press [right navigation key] to enter Bluetooth in standby state. 3. Press [up navigation key] to enter Beetel World.

4. Press [down navigation key] to enter Shortcuts list in standby state. 5. Press [camera key] to enter Camcorder in standby state.

Chapter 3 Major Function Guide

3.1 Media player The mobile phone provides MP3 music play function. MP3 music can be downloaded in following ways:

1. Download MP3 from computers via USB disk connection. 2. Download MP3 from Internet.

You can use this function to enjoy video files. In play interface, press [* key] to play the file in full screen mode.

3.2 Camera Camera interface can be accessed via Media Gallery-> Camcoder. Adjust parameters to find a view, and then press OK key to take a photo.

3.3 USB connection function The mobile phone provides USB connection function. You can select Storage Device, Web Camera or Serial/PC Sync. 3.3.1 Storage device

Once the mobile phone is connected to a PC via data cable, select Storage Device to achieve the USB disk connection between the mobile phone and PC. 19

Note: 1. While transmitting files using the USB connection, please wait patiently due to relatively slow transmission speed to the mobile phone. To exit USB connection menu, please shutdown the USB device on PC first. Only when the PC prompts that the USB device can be safely removed from the system can the USB connection between the PC and the mobile phone be disconnected, otherwise it may lead to file loss during the transmission to the mobile phone.

2. When an error occurs in files stored in the mobile phone, please select to format the storage card. Do remember not to delete the system directory or format the mobile phone hard disk, which may lead to file storage error. 3.3.2 Web camera

When the phone is on, plug in the USB cable, the phone end enters the USB application selection interface entitled “USB Setting”. Select web camera, the phone will enter web camera state. In this state, the camera on the phone can be used as a USB camera on a PC in video chat tools such as MSN and Gtalk.

3.3.3 Serial/PC synchronisation

Your phone supports PC sync function. Use data cable to connect the phone and PC, and select serial port. Then launch the sync software on the PC. You can upload contacts and messages on the phone to the PC for backup. Note:

1. Before launching the sync software on the PC, make sure your phone has entered sync state.

2. You need to install sync software on your PC.

3. Please do not unplug the data cable when your phone is uploading data, otherwise it will lead to data loss. PC sync function is only available on USIM/SIM card 1.

4. Before using the PC sync function, you need to install driver on PC.

3.4 Making a call When the logo of Network Service Operator appears on the screen, you can dial or answer calls. Signal bars at upper left corner of the screen show intensity of network signal. Since quality of call is greatly affected by barriers, movement in small range can effectively improve quality of calls.

3.4.1 Dialing domestic numbers

Use number keys to input phone number in standby state and then press Dial key to start the call. To change numbers, press the right softkey “Clear” to delete characters. While dialing, dialing animation will be displayed on the screen. Once the call is put through, talk state information will be displayed on the screen.

After the call, please press End key to hang up the call.

You can input numbers in the following order to dial domestic numbers:

3.4.2 Dialing an extension of a wired phone

Some wired phone extension can not be put through directly. Instead, you need to enter exchange number first and hold * key and then enter extension number when “P” or “W”

appears on the screen.

You can input numbers in the following order to dial an extension of a wired phone:

3.4.3 Dialing international numbers

To dial international numbers, hold the number key 0 until pre-fix “+” for international long-distance call appears on the screen.

You can input numbers in the following order to dial international numbers:

+ Country code Complete phone number Dial key

After the pre-fix, enter country code and complete phone number you want to dial. According to conventions, county code for India is 91,Germany is 49, and 44 for UK and 46 for Sweden, etc.

Similar to making an international call, “0” before city code should be removed.

Note: In some networks, it is not allowed to use “+” to dial international numbers. 3.4.4 Dialing a number in the list Every phone number you dialed or received is saved in call history list in your mobile phone, recorded in sub-menus in the list according to category namely : All calls, Dialed calls, Answered calls, Missed calls and Rejected calls. The phone number of the call you received/dialed most recently is

located at the top of every list. When phone number list is full, old numbers will be deleted automatically. To view a list, you can operate as follows:

Press Dial key in standby state to view record of dialed numbers, or enter the main menu and select Call History to view All calls, Missed calls, Answered calls, Dialed calls and Rejected calls.

Phone numbers appear in the lists can be dialed directly by pressing Dial key.

In call history detail list, press [Option soft key] to call, send message, save the numbers to phonebook or delete them. 3.5 Dialing an emergency number As long as you are within coverage of network (which can be found out by checking network signal intensity indicating bars on upper left corner of the screen), you can dial emergency calls . If your Network Service Operator does not provide roaming service for the area, “Restricted Service” will be displayed on the screen. As long as you are within coverage of network, you can make an emergency call even without a USIM/SIM card.

Note: Some networks do not allow dialing 112 for emergency call. 3.6 Answering/terminating incoming calls You can choose to answer a call in different ways, namely by pressing [Dial key] or [Left softkey]; if you have plugged the earphone, you can use the key on the phone to answer the call.

When there is an incoming call, press [End key] to reject a call. During a call, press [End key] to end current call. You can also press [End key] to cancel the call you have just dialed.

3.7 Contacts In standby state, you can enter phonebook contact list by pressing down navigation key only. This mobile phone supports name card type phonebook, which means you can use the phonebook function to save name card information.

Note: The number of storage entries of a USIM/SIM card depends on its capacity. 3.8 Beetel World ( as per model )3.8.1 Beetel World

3.8.2 Yahoo!

Beetel Mobiles provides you access to all Yahoo! Services at one place. Now you can search anything, mail your friends, read news, check your astrology, get all information about latest happenings in Sports and much more through this Yahoo! Zone in Beetel Mobiles. It is a third party application and Beetel Mobiles holds no responsibility for any liability arising out of it.

3.8.3 Reuters

Reuters gives you the latest India, World and Business news and more. Also, get the latest stock market information along with tools like the currency converter and weather in your city on your mobile phone. It is a third party application and Beetel Mobiles holds no responsibility for any liability arising out of it.

Please ensure that you have GPRS settings in your phone to open Reuters. Contact your operator for GPRS settings.

3.8.4 Opera Mini

Opera Mini is a web browser that allows you to access Internet on your Beetel phone. With Opera Mini you can use your cell phone to access web sites and content, including your mail, community sites, news, blogs and more. It is a third party application and Beetel Mobiles holds no responsibility for any liability arising out of it.

Please ensure that you have GPRS settings in your phone to use Opera Mini. Contact your operator for GPRS settings.

3.8.5 Free Call

Free SMS service is powered by ibibo. You can make 10 minutes of free calling using this application. This is not all; you can get free 10 minutes on referring a friend to register for this application. It is a third party application and Beetel Mobiles holds no responsibility for any liability arising out of it.

3.8.6 Free SMS

Free SMS service is powered by ibibo. You can now send free SMS to your friends using this feature. 3.8.7 CWG

Now no worries at all! Whenever you feel uneasy just long press 5 key for sending a pre defined message to pre defined numbers.

Chapter 4 Input Methods

You may need to input text when you use the phone. For example, to store a name in the phonebook, write a short message or create a calendar. You can enter characters, symbols and numbers via the phone keyboard. In edit state, press [#] key to select input method of body text. This phone provides ABC/abc/Abc/123/=ABC/=abc/=Abc, Hindi input method, 123 and symbol input method. In SMS edit interface, press [*] key to enter symbol selection mode.

4.1 English input mode In English input mode, you may have to press a key several times to enter a letter from the keyboard. Press a key continuously to select the English letter represented by the key. Press once to enter the first letter and press twice to enter the second letter. The English input mode includes several input methods,smart English small/capital, small/capital English, English initial capital, etc.

Chapter 7 FAQ

Please refer to the list below if you encounter any problems while using your phone. If the problem still persists, contact a qualified Beetel dealer or your local maintenance center immediately.

■Your display prompts Enter PIN Code:

Enter the valid PIN code for your USIM/SIM card. If you do not know this code, contact your network service operator immediately.

■Your display prompts Enter PUK Code:

If you enter the PIN code incorrectly three times in a row, your USIM/SIM card will be locked. In this case, you have to enter the PUK code to unlock your USIM/SIM card. Please contact your network service operator immediately.

■Your phone prompts Insert USIM/SIM card:

Make sure that your USIM/SIM card is correctly installed. Check whether your SIM card works normally. This message may indicate that your SIM card is defective or damaged. In this case, contact your network service operator.

■Your phone prompts Out of Service Area or Network Failure:

Check your signal strength indicator. If the indicator shows no signal, you may be in a basement or a building corner not covered by your wireless network. Move to another location where the signal is strong enough. There is another possibility: you may be in an area not covered by your wireless network. You may ask your network service operator to inform you of the network coverage.

■The sound is of poor quality, or there is echo or noise, which makes calling difficult:

Hang up the call, and dial again. Your network service operator may provide you with a better link when you retry.

■ Standby Time Drops:

If the signal is weak, your mobile phone has to search for the signal for a longer time. This is a possible cause. If you do not want to answer calls, power off your phone temporarily. Or, your battery has been used for a long time and has worn out. In this case, you have to buy a new battery.

■Your phone cannot be powered on:

Check your battery charge level. If necessary, recharge your battery. You may try to power on your phone during the recharging. If your mobile phone has been put aside for a long time, the battery may be over discharged. In this case your phone cannot be powered on, even if the battery has been recharged for a relatively long time. You have to be patient, waiting for the recovery of your battery charge level.

■ You cannot send a message:

Check the options related to your messaging service center. You may forget to subscribe the SMS service. Or the recipient number is not available. Another possible reason is that your local network service operator does not support this service.

■ DTMF (Dual Tone Multiple Frequency)

DTMF is a signaling method useful for services such as phone banking and automatic answering.

■ International Indicator

When you enter a correct international phone number, add a '+' in the front of the number.

■ Network Service Operator

Your mobile phone is not usable until you have signed a service protocol with your network service operator. And a USIM/SIM card is required.

■PIN (Personal Identification Number)

This code authorizes use of your USIM/SIM card and its data. The PIN code is provided by your network operator. This code consists of 4-8 digits, and can be modified when necessary.

■PIN2 (Personal Identification Number 2)

This code authorizes using some special features of your USIM/SIM card. In some countries, the PIN2 code may not be provided by your network operator.

■PUK (Personal Unlocking Code)

Use this code to unlock a locked USIM/SIM card. This code is provided by your network operator.

■Roaming

Roaming refers to using your mobile phone when you are not within the area described in your service agreement.

■USIM/SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) Card

It includes details of protocol, security information and personal phonebook.

This mobile phone complies with international and national regulations on radio electromagnetic radiation. Please use with ease.

This mobile phone is a radio transmitter and receiver, and its design and manufacturing standard does not exceed RF limit suggested by ICNIRP. As a component part of comprehensive regulations, such limit represents allowable level of RF energy applicable for the general public. The regulations are developed regular and comprehensive assessment on scientific study, and contain certain safety factors to guarantee safety of people of all age levels and health conditions.

SAR, as a measurement unit, refers to specific absorption rate of electromagnetic energy. The SAR limit for public mobile phone in international regulations is no higher than 2.0 W/kg for each 10g human tissue *. In order to provide better protection for the public and consider deviation in measurement, this limit includes certain safety allowance.

For testing of SAR value, frequencies are tested at maximum output power of the mobile phone.
