With the rapid development of modern technology, we have made medical advances that allow people to live longer than ever before, but what should we do with them after we have saved their lives?

First, allowances should be made for the people who are no longer earning a living, who cannot walk long distances, or who may have physical or mental disabilities that keep them from communicating with others.

Second, entrust the elderly to the care of nursing homes, where many kinds of entertainment facilities and treatment equipment are available;

Finally, a country that can help people live longer has the responsibility to care for them better, therefore the government is there to enforce high standards of care by virtue of law

Attending school abroad has many advantages

Firstly, looking at our motherland from the outside, we can best see the strong points of our nation

Secondly, while studying in a foreign country, we can travel widely and make friends with the local people to widen our vision & broaden our minds;

Thirdly, the foreign language can be used in our daily life so that our ability in the second language will be improved quickly

Above all, we are able to get acquainted with the latest knowledge in science & technology as well as make use of the first-rate facilities available.

For all these reasons, it is really worthwhile to go abroad for further studies, particularly when the object is very weak or not available at home

TELEVISION IN OUR LIFE

Television—the most popular & persuasive form of modern technologies, marked by rapid change & growth –is moving into a new era, an era of extraordinary functions, which promises to reshape our lives & our world. Or in other words, it is an electronic revolution, made possible by the marriage of television & computer technologies.

Traditionally, television has been a medium of the masses; it has been a major provider of news, information, & entertainment, placing our role as the passive viewer.

Television is more than just an electronics system, however, it is a means of expression, a vehicle for communication, & as well as a powerful tool for reaching other human beings.

ON STUDY OF English

In a sense, English is our bridge connecting peoples of the world. The development of a person, a business, even a nation cannot be achieved without communications with the outside world. Since English is most universally used language in various international exchanges, without it we’ll be isolated from international community.

However, the command of English is a time-consuming process. First, a workable stock of vocabulary requires several thousand words and expressions, which takes years to develop. Second, the improvement of the oral and listening competence seems disappointing to learners. Third and most discouraging of all is, the phrase which is made up of familiar words goes quite beyond one’s comprehension.

Despite all difficulties, I shall be bent on practising as I believe in the saying: “Practice makes perfect”

PROVIDE A BETTER LIFE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Now we have a growing population of senior citizens. To ensure happy lives for them has become a focus of attention.

There are many things to be done to honor senior citizens. To name just a few,

they should enjoy some privileges, such as special seats in buses, reduced fares for entertainment & traveling, & other benefits. In short, we should do everything to solve their practical problems, to warm their hearts & to make them happy. Besides, we should find some ways to provide affordable medical health care and ensure a decent pension for them.

Senior citizens, need our love & deserve the best care. Let’s update our traditional respect for the aged & provide a better life for them.
